NESOT has four categories of membership which are
1. Ordinary member: Persons with the following the following criteria will be eligible for this category of membership
-Having Master of Science or equivalent qualification in nephrology from other countries recognized by Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT)
-Students registered for Masters of Science-nephrology having at least one year in training
-Physicians with postgraduate training (Masters of Medicine) in Paediatrics or Internal Medicine/ equivalent qualifications with training in nephrology from a
a recognized hospital/ institution
-Physicians with postgraduate training (Masters of Medicine) in Paediatrics or Internal Medicine/ equivalent qualifications who are willing to pursue training in
nephrology
-Persons having postgraduate degrees in other disciplines of Medicine such as surgery, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, radiology, biochemistry, molecular
biology, genetics or immunology whose work is closely linked to nephrology
2. Associate member: Any person who lacks qualifications mentioned above, but is working in the department of Nephrology, or allied disciplines or is directly involved
in dialysis or kidney transplantation will be eligible for this category of membership.
3. Honorary member: Honorary membership may be conferred upon any individual who has made contributions of exceptional merit
4. Corporate member: This will be available on application to individuals/companies who/which are committed to the promotion of nephrology, who may not qualify for
ordinary membership
